A land of contrast, between the Vosges and the Jura. The Territoire de Belfort is thus the only french department in which two mountain ranges meet.
A region that benefits from an exceptional situation at the heart of Europe right on the doorstep of Switzerland, the vineyards of Southern Alsace and Germagny.
Belfort, a lively renovated town. Sheltered by the great Vauban Ramparts, it is guarded by the citadel and the famous Bartholdi Lion.
In the southern Vosges, the Ballon d'Alsace, a superb classified national site at the heart of the Ballons des Vosges regional national Park.
Local gastronomic specialities are here a pleasure for your eyes before ou ever come to taste them.

| Belfort's heritage? |
The great Vauban ramparts is guarded by the citadel and the famous Bartholdi Lion.
A lion huge and colossal : made from separate blocks of pink sandstone and assembled against the citadel's limestone cliff, the monument measures 22m long and 11m high.
Citadel of liberty : visit the citadel by means of the marked trails accompanied by an audio guide and a video-animated show in the verey heart of the great underpass.

Territoire de Belfort has over 670 km of bridle paths signposted by the knowledgeable Club Vosgien. It is crossed by 3 "Grande Randonnée" routes (GR5, GR533, GR 532), and by the Saint-Jacques de Compostelle route through Belfort town Center.
Cycle tourism and Mountain Kike : 27 rambling itineraries are available upon request at the tourist office.
Cycling paths have been created thoughout the department allowing cyclists to pedal their way freely along the waterways on the Euroveloroute des Fleuves, from the Promenade François Mitterrand trail from Belfort to Malsaucy...

Brimbul' local aperitif : this drink combines a typical fruit of the region grown in our very own moutains with a touch of gin to enhance its invigorating sparkling flavour.
The Belflore, pastry speciality : a bed of fragant raspberries covered by a layer of almond meringue and sprinkled with hazelnuts is a creation equalled only by its delicate appearance.
The facettes du Territoire, chocolate delights : It is composed of a danish pastry, desert, ice cream desert and delicious chocolates stamped with the logo of each cultural event in the Territoire de Belfort.
L'épaule des Ballons, sweet/savoury : accompanying the joint of lamb with bilberries transforms it into a typical regional dish to be enjoyed at the family table or with friends.

FIMU : International festival of Universal Music : Each Whitsun weekend,the Old town of Belfort is in a state of high excitement : 3 days of non-stop music, 2 500 musicians representing 35 crounties at 15 sites in the city of the Lion and dozens of free concerts. The festival hinges around a simple concept : it's free, open to all and suits all tastes.
Entrevues, International Film Festival of Belfort : This festival has a mission - to take bets and take risks. It recognises seeks out and discovers works and directors totally or practically unknown to the public.
The Eurockéennes of Belfort (music festival) : each year on the first weekend of july, 90 000 people gather together on the Malsaucy peninsula to celebrate the stars and news-comers to the scene.
Flea Market : From march to december for the past 40 years, this largest flea market in eastern France gathers together no less than 200 professionals as they set up shop in the old town on the first sunday of each month in the morning.
